Desktop sync
Only the changes instead of recomputing the whole tree
What it gives you
A3.Drive keeps a change log, and the client asks only for what happened after its last checkpoint. An edit made on the computer reaches the cloud immediately, a change in the cloud arrives on the device. Sync also works between employees and departments, so everyone keeps one current version of a document.
How it works
- Changes arrive in batches of bounded size from the last client checkpoint
- Shared folders of employees and departments sync like your own
- An edit on the computer creates a new version, not a second file
- Editing locks are respected on the client side too
Limitations
- The sync client runs on Windows and macOS
- A file locked by somebody else cannot be overwritten from the computer until the lock is released
Which plan includes it
Platform
The feature is included in this plan and in every plan above it.
Compare plansFrequently asked questions
Does the client download the whole folder every time?
No. The client asks only for changes after its last checkpoint in the log, so sync does not walk the whole folder tree.
What happens if I edit a file on my computer?
The edit reaches the cloud and is saved as a new version of the same file, not as a second file. The previous version can be restored from history.
Are shared folders synced?
Yes. Shared folders of employees and departments sync the same way as your own, so everyone has one current version of a document on their computer.
